Online Help: Solutions to frequently asked questions

Before contacting us, we recommend that you first check whether your issue can possibly be resolved directly through our self-help options.

The machine cannot be switched on

  1. Check that the emergency stop switches are off . Each aerial work platform has a red emergency stop switch in the basket and on the ground control. Both must be off (pull switch up).
  2. Is the machine unlocked with the BIBERGER KEY CARD ? On the ground control you will find a keypad. There should be an orange and a green LED lit up. If only the orange one lights up, simply hold your BIBERGER KEY CARD in front of the keypad. Then the green LED should light up. If not, wait maybe 5-10 seconds and try again.
  3. Is the machine receiving power? Some machines have a battery disconnect switch. If this is activated, the control unit will not receive power and the machine will not start.

The engine starts but does not start

Diesel devices may need to preheat to start the engine. Next to the start button there is a switch or button with the corresponding symbol

The machine runs but cannot be controlled

  1. Has the correct control station been selected? Machines can be controlled from the basket or from the ground. You must select where you want to control from. The other control will then be disabled.
  2. Most machines have a safety device that prevents accidental movement of the machine. There is either a pedal in the work basket, a button on the joystick or a button on the ground controls.

The machine moves slowly

  1. As soon as the machine performs a lifting function, ie is no longer in the home position, the travel movements are greatly reduced. This is a safety device; bring the platform into the home/travel position.
  2. With electric and hybrid devices, it can happen that the battery is low on charge. In this case, the speed is reduced. With electric devices, please plug in the power cable; with hybrid devices, let the engine run for a while without moving the machine.
  3. The base speed of the machine may be set too low. The machines have either switches or dials that can be used to adjust the speed of the machine.

The machine suddenly stops working and emits a warning tone

  1. If the machine suddenly stops working and emits a warning tone instead, a fault may have occurred with the machine or the machine may have been overloaded. The basket weight, inclination or reach may have been exceeded.
  2. Machines from the manufacturer Genie are equipped with a safety system in the work basket. This consists of a yellow rope with a magnet that is stretched between the control system and the operator. If the magnet is pulled out of the holder, the machine stops immediately and emits a loud warning signal. As soon as the magnet is put back in the holder, the machine continues to run.

The machine's battery is empty in the morning, although the machine has been charging all night

  1. Did the machine actually charge when plugged in? You should always check the charger to see if the charging process actually starts. This is indicated by an LED.
  2. Was the electricity available all night? At some construction sites, the electricity is turned off at night.
  3. Was the correct plug used? Some devices have another connection in addition to the charging plug. This is for supplying power to the socket. This can lead to confusion. Pay attention to the information on the plug.

This is how the platform's emergency lowering works

  1. Maintain a safe distance: Before activating the emergency lowering device, make sure that there are no people or obstacles under the platform.
  2. Check the position of the platform: Make sure the platform is in a safe position for lowering. It should be as close to the ground or on a stable surface as possible.
  3. Locate the emergency lowering valve: Locate the emergency lowering valve on the work platform. This valve allows the platform to be manually drained.
  4. Instructions in the manual: You will find detailed instructions on how to operate the emergency lowering valve in the manual of the aerial work platform. The instructions vary depending on the model and manufacturer.
  5. Performing an emergency lowering: Follow the steps in the owner's manual to operate the emergency lowering valve. This is usually done with a crank or lever. Be sure to perform the procedure slowly and in a controlled manner to avoid injury.
  6. Lowering the work platform to the ground: After operating the emergency lowering valve, the work platform should lower slowly. Monitor the process and make sure it is smooth and safe.

Contact our 24/7 service hotline: If the emergency lowering does not work as expected, you are unsure or you have difficulties performing it, contact our customer service. Our experts can help you perform the emergency lowering and recommend further steps.
